Ajax-Pickering MP Chris Alexander says the Pickering Airport Lands can’t be allowed to continue to hang in limbo. Despite that sentiment, and a promise last summer in the needs assessment survey to create a plan “in the coming months,” there’s still no timeline to develop the land in north Pickering. Alexander says he’s meeting with key players on a near-daily basis and most within the community want the land set aside for agricultural uses, and lands could be used to connect the Rouge Valley National Park with the Oak Ridges Moraine. Alexander says by next winter or spring there should be more detail available, however he says you can’t rush planning on this scale.
